Eileen Brady | Non-profit advisory

Eileen is co-founder of New Seasons Market, a landmark neighborhood grocery chain in Portland, Oregon. Her list goes on and on like her devotion to justice for all…and her smile. Eileen has graciously guided SPIT along its way with expert advice and snappy ideas. Her fond memories of her own kids’ sports careers fuels her to add “just one more thing” to her heavily laden schedule. SPIT is forever grateful. She is co-owner and Chair for Celilo Group Media, publisher of Chinook Book and the Eco-Metro guide. Eileen serves as the Chair of Zenger Farm, an urban agriculture park for school children, is a member of the Metro Blue Ribbon Bike Trails Commission and serves on the Oregon Business Association (OBA) Board. In addition she is the Vice Chair of the Oregon Health Fund Board. Eileen speaks regularly on “Sustainability and Building Regional Food Economies.” She helped launch Oregon Solutions, Governor Kitzhaber’s state-wide effort at building citizen based solutions and served as Vice President of the Food and Farm program at Ecotrust. She has over twenty years operational, marketing and human resource experience in the high-tech and natural foods industries.

Randy Hewitt DC, CCSP | Board Member

Dr. Hewitt’s mission in life is to help people.  As a chiropractor, his mission is fulfilled each day. In Dr. Hewitt’s view, chiropractic care does not stop with spinal care.  As a Certified Chiropractic Sports Physician (CCSP) and Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS), he integrates extremity care, sports and fitness, and nutrition into nearly every patient’s overall wellness plan. Portland Chiropractic Group was founded in 1989 by Dr. Randy and his wife, Dr. Elise Hewitt.  The Drs. Hewitt not only share the office, but together they also ski, bike, camp, exercise, play with their dogs Forrest and Toper, and generally have fun with their two children – Kelsey and Braden.

Soccer coach extraordinaire! The most thoughtful, kind anddefinitely most fit. Truly cares about each and every kid. His passion carries over into his community efforts as he was awarded Humanitarian Of The Year, while playing for the Minnesota Thunders(3 years), and later was honored in Portland while playing for the Timbers. At University of the Incarnate Word in San Antonio- he was twice named an academic All-American. Coached at Washington State-Pullman,Wash. Presently @ ESUFC, soon to coach college at U. of Ohio-Dayton.

Dave Striar | Board Member

Professionally, Dave Striar serves as the Director of Operational and Clinical Services for Janus Youth Programs one of the largest private nonprofit adolescent serving agencies in the Pacific Northwest. He brings 25 years of staff coaching and training, non profit management and clinical experience working with high risk youth in residential treatment programs.  Dave earned a Masters in counseling psychology at Lewis &Clark College. As the father of 2 soccer playing sons age 18 and 15 he is committed to helping to advance evidence based practices that help prevent and reduce sports injuries, improve the quality of training and performance through coaching practices that are developmentally appropriate and gender specific. Dave was a competitive middle distance and cross country runner before injuries took their toll.

Matthew Walsh PT, SPG Level III | Medical & Research Advisory

Matt has devoted hours of help to SPIT from the nuts and bolts of Biomechanics and the kinetic chain to the best ways to get people to listen! Matt is a brilliant healer and somehow manages to work on the final touches to his Doctorate (in Australlia!) while being a husband, Dad and clinician. Clinician & teacher, therapist to the Canadian Cross Country ski team, Alberta Alpine ski team & has held consultant position with the PGA tour, Seattle’s Pacific Northwest Ballet. Matt has extensive teaching experience in Sports and Orthopaedic Manual Therapy in Canada, Australia and the USA.

Susanne Wells | General Advisory

Susanne Wells, owner/founder of Miss Fit personal training and Gem Studio. I am passionate in my belief that handcrafted personal training can change lives. Each session is fresh, fun and innovative. Gavin Wilkinson | General Advisory

Gavin knows  soccer! He knows whats right in prevention and wants to see it done routinely. He has been a genuine leader in bringing  injury awareness to Portland and Eastside. His knowledge is deep and valuable and has been key in the task of marrying the drills with the research. New Zealand National Soccer Team, Head Coach/General Manager for the Portland Timbers. Wilkinson also runs the East Side United Football Club.

Karen Wolf | Design Advisory

Karen’s design sensibility began as a toddler, when she was known to reorganize board game pieces in neat stacks and rows with perfect right angles. This prototyping of space proved valuable in her ability to create two dimensional designs but think three dimensionally. Karen’s open sense of play lead her to mix with and become instrumental within varied design teams. Karen has hands-on experience in all areas of visual communications and brand creation, from corporate identity to US Olympic team branding to interior space design. She left her mark locally and on global brands like Adidas, Nike and Patagonia. Recently she was the driver in all things sustainably graphic within the emerging company Nau. Currently she’s enjoying success as an independent creative in Portland Oregon.


Amy Lennon, DC | President

Amy Lennon grew up in Buffalo, New York & went to college in the SUNY college system; College summers were  spent life-guarding on the Florida beaches. It’s here that she began her love for competitive running and triathlons. She also played college softball and volleyball before landing in Portland, in the late 90’s while attending Chiropractic College. Now she enjoys treating Iron-man athletes who continue to inspire her. Like many others- she never left beautiful Portland! After graduating Western States Chiropractic College, she worked as the Director of Woman’s Health at the college Outpatient Clinic & Downtown Womens Center while opening a private practice with her husband Cliff. They now have 3 awesome kids and way too many balls in the air! Amy has a strong interest in the problem solving aspects of chiropractic and enjoys searching for new techniques to aid the body to heal itself. Presently her training in Graston, myofascial Anatomy Trains and ART (Active Release Technique) have contributed to new levels of success with stubborn and unresolved cases. Her interest in researching alternative options for her patients  has resulted in a wide network of peer practitioners in multiple disciplines and an extensive referral database to whom she routinely refers. Brigett Mann LMT, CA | Vice President

Brigett Mann, received her massage certification in 2002 from the Desert Institute of the Healing Arts in the searing heat of Tucson, Arizona then promptly returned to the greener pastures of Portland.  She works as a chiropractic assistant and manager at Hawthorne Chiropractic.  She is certified in kinesio taping and licensed in massage and often volunteers these skills to the local woman’s rugby team, the ORSU (Oregon Sports Union) Jesters. When she isn’t working, Brigett enjoys traveling and any activity that provides an adrenaline rush. Brigett is a bright & shiny star every day at work and her genuine devotion to exceptional patient care is what makes her so loved whilst she digs into your flesh with her elbow. She lives her life with great integrity every day & that’s what makes her a silly little leader. She believes in what makes sense which is  probably why she’s devoted 100’s of volunteer hours to SPIT. Lastly, she is probably the only team member that can carry out all of the exercises consecutively, including standing on the exercise ball! But please…don’t ask her to.

Cliff Marhoefer, DC, CCSP | Treasurer

Cliff Marhoefer received his Bachelor of Art degree in environmental studies from University of California Santa Barbara and his Doctorate of Chiropractic degree from Western States Chiropractic College. He has been in private practice in Portland since 1993 and utilizes many soft tissue techniques in his own practice in addition to co-treating many patients/clients with LMT’s. He’s the quiet, smart one behind the scene making sure everybody happy! He also played Ultimate Frisbee for over 20 years, winning the national championships 2 times as a member of the Santa Barbara Condors.

Mathew Todd | Secretary

Matthew Todd graduated from Western States Chiropractic College with honors, magna cum laude, in 2006. Dr. Todd practiced as a chiropractic physician in Peru, which taught him the necessity of good patient-doctor communication. He is a doctor who takes the time to listen to his patients and addresses their concerns, which can dramatically increase patient satisfaction and resolution of their problems.  He has a strong interest in sports medicine and has treated athletes at Hood to Coast and Portland Marathon, among other sporting events.
